Supermarket Sarah

So, I was alerted to this site by fellow blogger (and fabulously gorgeous pin-up) Fleur de Guerre.

Check it out - it's called Supermarket Sarah.

So, I am hoping that you can see how this works! The site is a shot of this wall - the "For Sale Wall" - and you click on the item you wish to purchase! Simples.

All the items seem to be sourced from London - Sarah lives near Portobello and also frequents Spitalfields...

Phew!

Well - it's been one of those weeks I can tell you.

I feel like my feet haven't touched the ground. So sorry for the lack of updates!

Thanks for the support re the burlesque name. This one feels right. So, I have decided to take the plunge and get some fabulous Clutterfly jewellery made for my alter ego.

What do you think? It would say "Roxie" on one heart and "Gale" on the other?

Love!!!

Chosen!

I think I have found my burlesque name!!

ROXIE GALE

What do you think?

This comes from two of my favourite musicals - Chicago and the Wizard of Oz...

Love it - but does it suit me!?

Cornish pasties

Darren and I went down to Cornwall this weekend to visit with my parents. It was lovely! Although the drive there was horrific, we spent Saturday evening and Sunday relaxing on the Cornish coast. I has forgotten how lovely it was to be beside the sea, and how nice and quaint the Cornish towns are.

We went up and visited with my parents and their dogs - which delighted Darren who is simply waiting for the moment when he can get one! It was lots of fun - we went over to Crackington Haven (hee hee), Boscastle, Widemouth Sands and Padstow.

With Darren and I being the unashamed foodies we are, the Padstow visit was the higlight! We went to Rick Stein's cafe and feasted on seafood! There was so much of it that my mum and I fell asleep on the way back in the car. I highly recommend going to Padstow - it's really busy but worth it. The town is really cute - but the abundence of great food is what makes it.

Nommers.

It was great just to kick back and have a change of scenery - I actually feel quite good today and even got up on time!!! Woah.

Z-Day

A little disturbed about the news today. The BBC is reporting that scientists have modelled what would happen should a zombie infestation actually occur.

Now, anyone who knows me will be aware that I am TERRIFIED of zombies. I have an irrational belief in them, and one of the first things I look for in a new home is the ability to defend it from an attack of the undead - as well as suitable exit routes.

Suffice to say, the news alarms me.

"If zombies actually existed, an attack by them would lead to the collapse of civilisation unless dealt with quickly and aggressively. ... [O]nly frequent counter-attacks with increasing force would eradicate the fictional creatures."

However, there is a good point "To give the living a fighting chance, the researchers chose "classic" slow-moving zombies as our opponents rather than the nimble, intelligent creatures portrayed in some recent films." Phew. Those fast ones are even more terrifying.

A commentator suggests "that some of the assumptions made in the paper might be unduly alarmist. "My understanding of zombie biology is that if you manage to decapitate a zombie then it's dead forever. So perhaps they are being a little over-pessimistic when they conclude that zombies might take over a city in three or four days," he said."

So that's OK then.

It's show time!

Is it wrong to desperately want this? Available now on eBay for only £500 or so.

Strumpets!

In case you hadn't guessed by now - I love pretty lingerie. Now I have a new crush on yet another designer - Strumpet & Pink.

Just see for yourself:

Sooooooo lovely and delicate. Very pretty!!! I especially heart the yellow button up knickers with pink petals inside - cute!

Hat-a-girl

Look!

It's the best hat ever!

This comes from Hey Sailor! and is just fab-u-lous! Love it and want it...

What's on?

This week I have mainly been...

...working.

Rubbish. I tell you though, I am actually so tired at the moment that I am just about to drop. I popped home to see my family and a very good friend of mine on Monday, yesterday was burly class and tonight I'm off to Brizzle. Going to keep it real and stay indoors tomorrow evening, though, and so I will hopefully get a chance to catch up on my sleep!

Nothing too exciting to report at the moment. I have a new hairdryer, a load of new underwear (of the boring necessary variety, rather than the exciting kind!) and some new scarves.

Oooh - just remembered! I have some big red ostrich feather fans coming from China! Hope they're all good... I really need some to be able to practice my fan dancing - highly necessary items (if on the expensive side).

I can't wait to get properly working on fan dancing - it's so elegant and graceful. I am hoping that my poi experience will help, although having used these things I believe that I may be starting from scratch.

Trashbat.co.ck

OK - so the title of this post has nothing to do with the content - but the word "Trash" always makes me think of Nathan Barley... *Giggles*

Moving swiftly along (!) to what I am really posting about. That is this website:

Trashy.com

You can shop online, or find their costumes/lingerie in Fairy Goth Mother in Spitalfields Market. I am mainly lusting over these little babies:

Cute aren't they? And quite reasonably priced, actually.

Happy shopping!

TGIF

LITERALLY.

I am so tired this week - I just want to curl up into a ball and sleep. However, need to be on it today as meeting the new employers for lunch. Off to Brizzle again this evening, but going to keep it fairly low-key (having watched Willem Dafoe in Antichrist last night at the Watershed - not sure WHAT it was about!!).

But to leave you on this rather drizzly Friday - here are some great canvasses by Todd White. Darren actaully has one of these (I'll let you guess which one) and it was he who introduced me. I think that he has a great style and can really capture something in his figures.

Aren't they fun? I really love the blonde in the backless dress holding the wine glass and cigarette. Tres chic, n'est pas?

Bag Lady

Today I am mainly lusting after this...

Looks expensive, doesn't it? BUT NO!! It is from Marks and Spencer! Joy of joys..! I love it's neutral snake-ness, which is cheering me up no end on this rather miserable Thursday.

Not much time...

...to blog today.

I have been at the hairdresser having three hours' worth of 'work' done - so my employer has been getting the rest of my attention. Also I am at Pilates tonight and need to leave on time as I am off into the Big Smoke to meet a friend for dinner.

As we are going to Cafe Rouge, I thought it would be kind of on topic to share another blogger who I have been following.

It's an interior design blog based on Parisienne apartments from the 20s and 30s - so Paris + Deco... Another two of my favourite things. Claudia, the blogger, runs a boutique which sells such items... C'est l'amour!

Have a look and see what you think - I love her feature on dressing tables - makes mine look ugly by comparison:

I love Jean Harlow on the telephone - how glamorous - dah-ling!

Burlesque Names (part 2)

In addition to my previous list - now I like "Electric". This is a bit of a play on the Elektrokat name... Not sure what the first name should be though. This is soooo hard!

So, what do you think:

(1) Katie Electric

(2) Kitty Electric

(3) Coco Electric

?

I could mix up the electric part - Electric Kitty? Or Katie Electrix?

Hmmmmmmm... Thoughts?

Teese-Day

A totally and utterly gratuitous collection of photos of Dita which have taken my fancy over the last month.

I think her wedding dress (by no less than Vivienne Westwood dah-ling) is just a dream - she can really pull off that purple. The white version (one of the models) is stunning also - the hat is also very Scarlet inspired, don't you think? I think the whole look is a gorgeous confection - a mix of glamour, classicism and cutting edge modern. *Sigh*

I also quite like this traditional 'county look' on her - again she makes it look effortless and irreverant at the same time. A look that would make some of us lesser mortals look quite pretentious and overdone.

These are images from Dita's latest Cointreau show in LA. I am drooling looking at them and just can't wait to see her live in Paris.

BTW - just LOOK at that boa! I am reliably informed that the boa was at least £4,500 itself! The volume says it all though. Again - *sigh*.

And just to top it off - some beautiful 'classic' Dita looks...

Yes - today is definitely Teese-Day.
